Recipes of the Month Secondary Story

July 2016 Makeover

COLOR – For Cindy Stiemsma’s hair color, the goal was to keep the base shade as close to her natural color as possible. In order to compliment her skin tone, a Chocolate Gold Brown was used from roots to ends. Since summer is upon us, Shanna chose to brighten the hair with some accent highlights, thus, lightening the hair to a warmer, almost caramel-colored blonde. To tie it all together, Chocolate Red Violet lowlights were added. Chestnut Brown eyebrow tint was used to match the hair.

CUT – Focusing in on the cut, Cindy wanted something short/classy, but still functional and easy to manage. Because of this, the back was stacked in a way that the hair practically styles itself in the morning. It gave the perfect amount of volume in the crown, while keeping the nape area short for the summer heat. The sides were layered to flow away from the face and blend with the layers in the crown. To compliment the forehead, straight across bangs were given and pieced out for a lighter look and feel.

MAKEUP – Jane Iredale makeup was used for the entirety of the makeover. We began with Smooth Affair Primer for normal skin types. The Age Defying Liquid Minerals in the shade of Warm Silk followed. For mature skin this is a must have! It provides light to medium coverage, allowing your skin to breathe. It features light-reflecting minerals to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Jane Iredale Warm Silk Pure Pressed Powder was next applied with the Handi brush, for a matte finish. This gentle, yet effective, powder contains a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from harsh rays and is waterproof for up to 40 minutes–great for summer activities. So-Bronze1 was used for contouring and Sunbeam Bronzer/Blush was applied to the apple of the cheeks. Canvas primer and shadow, 2-in-1, was used on her eyes to ensure coverage and all-day wear. Warm browns (Dawn) and gold tones (Dreamy Pink) on the eye complimented the hair and skin tone. Purelash Primer and Longest Lash Black Ice Mascara made the lashes appear fuller and darker. Compulsion Lip Fixation, a long-lasting lip stain, completed the look.

JEWELRY – A beautiful necklace was chosen from the B&B Boutique, located next door to Salon 311. It complimented the neckline of her blouse and tied in the silver earrings.
